Marlon® Low Density PTFE Coaxial Core

Markel Marlon® low density polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) coaxial core takes our conventional core to higher levels of performance by increasing the core’s velocity of propagation. Markel Marlon® is available over a similar range of diameters and conductors as our conventional core but offers VoPs as high as 77%. This product is supplied as a component to manufacturers of flexible and semi-rigid RF and microwave coaxial cables.

Conductors can be stranded or solid, silver or nickel plated copper or copper clad steel. Electrical and physical dimensions are tightly controlled to meet the requirements of each finished cable specification for the RF and microwave coaxial cable markets.

Where a more robust dielectric is desired, Markel Toughskin® low density polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) coaxial core  is recommended.

Product and Design Options

Markel has broad capabilities to produce Marlon® Low Density PTFE Dielectric for use in coaxial cable. Markel can produce Marlon® Low Density PTFE Dielectric from 32AWG – 14AWG in solid or stranded Silver Plated Copper (SPC), Silver Plated Copper Weld (SPCW) or Nickel Plated Copper (NiPC). Markel can adjust the Marlon® process to provide adjustments to the VoP as well as alter the outer surface of the dielectric to provide a tougher outer skin to protect the core in more dynamic applications.
